Mary Rose Lieberman
Area(s) of Instruction: Piano, Voice
Email: maryroselessons@gmail.com
Website: maryroselieberman.com
Mary Rose Lieberman began teaching piano lessons when she was a teenager under her mother’s guidance. From her mother, Mary learned many important piano teaching concepts, such as play-as-learning, musical story-telling, and student-centered teaching. Mary’s early experiences teaching piano lessons inspired her to study Music Education in college and become a music teacher. Since completing her degree in 2015, she has taught a wide range of music and theatre classes, but her specialty is young piano beginners. Her quickly-growing piano studio through Alley Bell Music in Edmonds is welcome to piano students of all ages and levels. She helps students to develop piano technique, literacy, theory, and creativity through play-based and age-appropriate methods. Mary continues to study piano with the jazz pedagogue Bradley Sowash.
While in college, Mary began teaching voice lessons under the guidance of the vocal pedagogy course at Luther College. She refined her voice teaching skills while working on a masters in Vocal Performance at LSU, where she taught lessons to beginning music majors. Since then, Mary continues to study voice pedagogy through Shenandoah University’s CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music) Vocal Pedagogy Institute. Mary helps singers develop effective strategies to sing in the styles they love, which include aural and literacy skills, efficient technique, and stage presence. Mary continues to study singing with dramatic soprano Alexandra LoBianco.
Mary’s degrees are in Music Education (B.A., Luther College ’15) and Vocal Performance (M.M., LSU School of Music ’19). She also continues to study Education Through Music with the Mary Helen Richards Institute. She is a member of Music Teachers National Association, Washington Music Teachers Association, and Edmonds Music Teachers Association, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Mary currently offers lessons online, at Alley Bell Music (143 5th Ave N, Edmonds, WA) or in your home in Edmonds and the surrounding areas. To find schedule a consultation with Mary, you can email her at maryroselessons@gmail.com .
