EMTA 2027 Excellence in Music Awards Program (EIMAP)

Event Date: Saturday, May 22, 2027
Student, teacher, and parent information is currently being updated on the website.

We’ve made a few updates this year to balance student volunteer hours, make teacher participation easier, and allow more flexibility with awards.

1. Student Volunteer Hours – Musicianship Festival
 Grades 7–10: Up to 3 hours, with the option to do more.
 Grades 11–12: At least 3 hours, with the option to volunteer for the full day.
This helps balance volunteer expectations for EIMAP students who do and do not participate in the Musicianship Festival.

2. Teacher Volunteering & Judging
Teachers entering students are expected to volunteer for both the Musicianship Festival and EIMAP.
Musicianship Festival – May 8, 2027: Please volunteer in person if possible. Remote judging is available for teachers with Saturday scheduling conflicts.
EIMAP – May 22, 2027: We need 8–10 judges for approximately 1½–2 hours. Teachers not judging will help with scheduling, paperwork, certificates, checks, and other event needs. We understand that work and major life commitments can make volunteering difficult. Please contact the event chairs as early as possible if you need an exception.

3. Flexible Award Distribution
Award amounts may be adjusted between grade categories based on participation. For example, additional funds may be shifted to grades 7–8 if participation is higher there.

4. Teacher Judge Pool
We’re creating a list of EMTA teachers willing to judge when needed. This will help avoid conflicts and expand our pool of experienced judges.

5. Repertoire
Solo performances only—no duets.
