2025 EMTA Student Winners from the WSMTA Young Composer Project

Here are the EMTA student winners from the WSMTA Young Composer Project 2025.  There were 53 compositions submitted by 22 teachers.  5 of these teachers are from the Edmonds chapter.  The 1st place students will be playing at the June 7 Gala and at the WSMTA Conference YCP recital on Saturday, June 28 at 7 pm at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington.

Lilly McIntyre (student of Angela Michael) – 1st place in 3rd grade.  Piano composition entitled “Little Bunny”.

Inga Marston (student of Frances Goei) – 1st place in 6th grade.  Piano composition entitled “Marston Moor”.

Caleb Buker (student of Frances Goei) – 2nd place in 6th grade.  Piano composition entitled “Right but Wrong”.

Junhao Fang (student of Rick Asher) – 1st place in 7th grade. Piano composition entitled “Waltz in A minor”.

Jayce Brown (student of Marie Wollam-Mergler) – 3rd place in 9th grade.  Piano composition entitled “The Marathon”.
