Greetings and Happy Fall!
We are looking forward to a particularly inspirational slate of Visiting Artists this coming year for Music Artistry Program.
The event will take place on Friday, March 7th, through Sunday, March 9th.
EMTA needs your help this year:
It’s much easier to book Friday venues than Sunday venues. If at all possible, please consider signing up NOW for a Friday afternoon venue. We don’t need everyone to do this – we know that many members cannot make Fri work. But if it is at all possible, it helps us fill days/times that are available (Fri), rather than scramble for days/times that are scarce (Sun).
To give you an idea of what we’re looking for, right now we have about 1.5 days fully booked for Friday, and we could use about 8-10 more hours (one full day) of students for Friday, March 7th. So we only need maybe 2-4 more teachers, 8 or 10 hours combined hours, to fill this need. Whenever possible we schedule the 2nd half of the day, working backward from end time, so your students would likely have a time *after 12 noon.
The benefits:
- You’ll know your schedule *now* – no guesswork
- Tell families *now that they will be performing on March 7th
- Leaves the weekend more open for families and for YOU!
Thanks for considering. We usually have about 60-65 hours of student scheduling to puzzle together over 10 days – thanks for considering helping us by putting some or all of your studio on Friday, March 7th.
We are also looking for ONE studio to host MAP on Sunday, March 9th. If you can host on Sunday, March 9th, please let Jensina Oliver or Debbie DeMiero know asap. You will receive $125 for piano tuning reimbursement from the state after tuning your piano in preparation for the event.
March 2025 Visiting Artists:
- Dr. Roger McVey from University of Idaho
- Dr. Lark Powers from Pacific Lutheran University
- Dr. Yoon-Hwa Ro from Washington State University
- Dr. Ross Salvosa from Central Washington University
Confirmed venues: (waiting for confirmation on a couple other venues)
- Lighthammer Piano in Mukilteo
- Prince of Peace in Shoreline
- Edgewood Baptist in Edmonds
A friendly reminder, as per WSMTA guidelines, please sign up for at least *double* the length of time of your student’s length of repertoire. And once a student is approaching advanced repertoire, they need at least 20 minutes with the Visiting Artist for meaningful work to take place. The general idea is that the time block is 2-3 times the length of the performance. For example: 5 minutes of rep – 15 or 20 min time block. 10 min of repertoire – at least 20 min time block and possibly 30 min. Let me know if you have any questions on this topic.
Looking forward to a great 2025 Music Artistry Program!
