Music Artistry Program (MAP) (formerly adjudications): Annual hearings arranged with an approved adjudicator who provides an evaluation of the work of both students and teachers.
Outstanding Artist Competition: An annual state competition providing performance opportunity and monetary awards for junior and high school students.
Young Composers Project: An annual program that encourages students in the field of composition. Winners are selected to perform their composition at the WSMTA State Convention.
Applied Music for High School Credit Program: In many areas of the state students can get high school credit for study with a certified teacher.
Student Teacher Training Program: A subsidiary to promote teaching by high school and college students under the supervision of certified teachers, thus guaranteeing the continuation of high professional standards.
Musicianship Examinations: Students have their progress in theory evaluated by means of a series of exams offered through the state and local chapters. Ten carefully graded levels are available in theory, sight reading, ear training, technique, and rhythm.
Student Scholarships: Financial assistance for continued private study to committed music students who demonstrate financial need.
